Malunggay for Hair Loss Prevention

Yes, you read that right. God's pharmacy was established long before Minoxidil was discovered. He provided Malunggay (Moringa oleifera) not just for Tinola (a chicken soup dish) but for a multitude of uses, including medicinal purposes.  If  your dad, husband or relatives are doomed to suffer from male pattern hair loss, tell them to start planting Malunggay and do this at home to save on soaring prices for hair regrowth procedures. If you are a woman and notice that your hair is thinning, you can likewise employ this method to stimulate hair growth.

Materials:

Malunggay leaves
Water
Blender or mortar and pestle
Sifter

Procedure:

1. You can either:
  • use a blender to grind  the malunggay- put about a half a cup of malunggay leaves and mix with water then extract the juice using a sifter, or
  • use mortar and pestle , pound the leaves to your heart's content, add a minimal amount water and extract the juice using a sifter

2. Massage  the the malunggay extract to the scalp, prioritizing areas that are showing signs of baldness.
3. Leave it on the scalp for 15-30 minutes
4. Rinse scalp
5. Do it daily for 2 weeks

  2. yes, doc :) .. people who have used it testified that it does work, not only in preventing hair loss but in restoring hair growth. i was looking for literatures on this but i couldn't find a substantial one. i read somewhere that it has to do with the plant hormone zeatin which encourages growth. there are shampoo companies that have started using malunggay for hair growth :)

  5. hi doc.. i just want to ask..how many months do you think it will work? what if i do it every day?what will happen?is it alright to do it everyday.? can i ask also about the side effects after hair rebonding..i got hair fall on it after months..and now my forehead is too obvious because of hair fall.. do you think it will regrow again..thank you so much.. God bless you always,,

  6. hi loresen,

i'll point you to #5 of the procedure for the frequency and length of use. there are no guidelines stating the recommended frequency but this is what most users go by. hair rebonding can be very damaging, our bathroom got almost clogged up after i had my hair rebonded through home service before. :) you can try the malunggay to stimulate hair regrowth. i've heard testimonials saying it was not only effective for hair loss prevention but for restoration as well.

  23. thanks at nakita ko ang site na ito.... nakaka experience kasi ako ng hairfall matagal na since august pa coz of hair bleaching... na stop siya nung mga march then i dye my hair again at ngayong july about two weeks now napansin ko na nag fall na naman ang buhok ko... ang nipis na nga sa nape ko. but i try doing the malunggay remedy for 2 days na... medyo komunti ung hairfall ko tyaka kahit paano nag thicken ung buhok ko... medyo ayaw ko muna kasing gumamit ng mga chemical hair regrowth product kasi baka matuluyan na itong buhok ko... pero nagkaka pimples din yung scalp ko... siguro baka may tutubo na ulit na buhok... try niyo din at least walang side effect kasi herbal siya...

  25. i've been using this malunggay concoction applied on my scalp for a week now.. I noticed babay hairs sprouting after a week though I still suffer from hairloss. Mine is a case of MPB i guess because of the signs like receeding hairline. But what's good is that the hairfall was significantly minimized. What I am doing is that I pound malunggay leaves with ginger and aloe vera. then i would add some drops of shure hair grower for biotin.. But majority of my topical solutions is malunggay extract.. Doc, would it be ok if I would leave it overnight and wash it in the morning when I take a bath? thanks doc!

  26. i think you can. malunggay is not like eggs that are a good culture medium for bacteria.

  29. hi. my daughter was diagnosed with alopecia areata when she was 10-month old. she will be turning three this coming november, still no signs of regrowing hair. will this malunggay leaves help my daughter? thanks in advance.

  30. glad that i found this site. as i read this page, i noticed that it has been created since 2010 and BANG!, it's already 2011 now, and it has been 2 years since it was posted, but new products containing malungay extract for hairloss treatment had been out in the market just this year!(Nuvo hair, and Koi liniment(?)). i'd rather pound malungay leaves that spend "Pounds" and "Dollars" for these products.

    ReplyDelete
  31. her condition of alopecia areata may be more difficult to deal with since it has to do with the autoimmune system. but you can give it a try!

  32. doc, im 26 yrs old.. Since my teenage years i already have this thin hair but now i have noticed that it's becoming thinner than before. i believed my hair fall now is the side effects of my depo vera injection,it's already 3months since i got my 1st injection and i wont submit myself for it anymore. im already applying malunggay leaves before i take a bath. i am just so worried about it. i am also applying ultimate hair grower tonic after i rinse my hair. doc, is there any antidote to reverse the side effects of depo vera? thank u so much doc.. i hope to hear an answer from you soon..

  37. hi. i want to clarify that I did not do any scientific study regarding malunggay for hair loss prevention. I'm just sharing this tip for those who want natural remedies. I can't provide you with exact data to your questions as I don't know if there are studies performed to answer those questions. if you want, you can experiment and observe to find out.

  41. i tried this and effective! and i noticed that my hair is shinier and softer after using. though i don't follow the suggested length of usage because when i stopped, probably after 3-4days my hairfall would be back again. so start ulit ako... pero ok lang kasi it works naman... i will make this and store for 3-4 days in the refrigerator and hindi naman nasisira and could be used pa rin.

  55. Hi there, I started using malunggay. I have history of alopecia where patches of bald areas appear on my scalp, the dermatologist said it is uncommon to women, mine might be stress related. I have tried steroids, regrowing hair formulas etc. but these moringa leaves are very effective for me. These patches appear every now and then so what I did was I grinded the leaves, added some water and squeezed Out the juice. I didn't have the extra time to do the process every night so I grinded a bulk of the leaves then save the juice in a small, tight container and refrigerated it. I am letting it stay on my scalp overnight (not sure if this is more effective) then wash it in the morning.
